CCC project partners from Turku launch a creative circular economy idea incubator
30 January 2025
From the end of January until April 2025, Art House Turku will be transformed into a circular economy idea incubator where circular economy experts and creatives will seek circular economy solutions for the lifestyle industry. The multidisciplinary teams will meet in five workshops bringing together the skills, experience and creativity from different sectors.
“The circular economy is the spirit of the times, and I believe that everyone – regardless of the sector – must actively seek new ways of working to curb the worrying phenomena that are putting pressure on the planet. We are looking forward to new ideas and thoughts from the incubator, in cooperation with many already familiar actors and new acquaintances,” says Eero Lehtinen from Ruissalo Shipyard (Ruissalon Telakka).
The artists bring their creativity and ability to see things differently, which should help the teams to find new solutions and approaches that can support the transition to a circular economy. Meanwhile, circular economy experts bring their expertise and the latest knowledge to the table.
“From the artist’s point of view, the incubator is motivated by the opportunity to work on problem solving in a multidisciplinary way. I am looking forward to collaborating with other participants, working in new ways and bringing our own skills and thinking to the table for an important cause,” says Kaisa Nurminen, a sculptor, art teacher and tutor.
The idea incubator is part of the Creative Circular Cities project, in which Turku is represented by the City of Turku, Valonia / Regional Council of Southwest Finland and Humak University of Applied Sciences. The results of both the incubator and the project itself will be implemented both nationally and in the wider Baltic Sea region.
“Creative Circular Cities” is co-funded by the EU’s Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2021-2027 to promote circular transition at local level by involving the culture & creative sectors and industries.
