Cultural Pearls mentor’s training in Copenhagen

22 April 2024
Mentors – trained partners of the BSR Cultural Pearls project – play a crucial role in encouraging, supporting and inspiring our Pearls, both during the application stage and throughout their title year. Mentors guide applicant cities through the development of their Culture and Resilience Action Plans and support awarded Pearl cities during the realization of their action plans, with practical assistance, expertise and organizing international exchange.
Technical details

On Monday, 22 April all our mentors are participating in a special training session in Copenhagen (DK) to learn more about the participatory methods and how they could be used to engage and empower citizens. This knowledge will later be transferred to the Pearls – this year they are Kiel in Germany, Jakobstad/Pietarsaari in Finland, Svendborg in Denmark and Rūjiena in Latvia – to help them find the most suitable approaches for their communities.

The mentor training is led by Eva Maersk, an expert in the field of culture of place, youth mobility and cultural development. She is an external consultant for the research institute Nordregio and the head of the NGO Bifrost in Denmark, which focuses on developing creative communities and skills for children, youth and adults.

All cities awarded the BSR Cultural Pearls title participate in a one-year-long programme to boost knowledge and cross-sectoral understanding of culture, community and social resilience provided by experts locally as well through webinars, conferences, and study visits.
