BSI_4Women Partnership Meeting in Borlänge, Sweden
25 April 2025
On April 2–3, 2025, project partners from across the Baltic Sea region gathered in Borlänge, Sweden, for the BSI_4Women Partnership Meeting and the 5th Steering Committee Meeting. The event, hosted by Dalarna Science Park and Dalarna University, marked an important step in advancing the project’s goals of supporting refugee and migrant women through collaborative, inclusive, and sustainable solutions.
The two-day meeting brought together representatives from organizations in Sweden, Poland, Norway, Denmark, and Estonia to discuss progress and future plans for the project co-funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme.
Highlights from Day 1 – Project Implementation and Local Voices
The meeting began with a welcome session at Dalarna Science Park, showcasing its work in business development and innovation. Project partners then presented the current state of pilot action implementation in their regions, followed by an evaluation of first results and discussions on improvements to the digital platform and final project tools.
A powerful moment of the day came from the presentation of experiences shared by Ukrainian women living in Sweden, offering insights into the real-life challenges and resilience of those the project aims to support.
The day concluded with a forward-looking session on preparations for the Transnational Demo-Day, scheduled to take place in Poland, and an evening networking dinner at Haganäs.
Highlights from Day 2 – Building a Long-Term Network
The second day at Dalarna University focused on Work Package 3, dedicated to the long-term sustainability of the project outcomes. Key sessions included the presentation of a concept for a transnational, democratically managed network for refugee and migrant women, as well as a three-year operational plan to ensure continuity after the project ends.
Participants also contributed to the development of a recommendation document aimed at decision-makers at all levels. A special guest, Ulf Hansson from Dalarna University, shared findings from a project funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers on Ukrainian women’s integration into the labor market.
The meeting concluded with planning for upcoming national and transnational events, including the final conference in Estonia, and the formal 5th Steering Group session.
Looking Ahead
The BSI_4Women project continues to drive meaningful change by promoting gender equality, inclusion, and empowerment through cross-border cooperation. The Borlänge meeting reinforced the partners’ shared commitment and laid the groundwork for impactful results in the final stages of the project.
