BBR in action: Mapping regional stakeholders and water ecosystems

Technical details

What are the key water priorities in the BBR regions? Who are the relevant stakeholders, and where are the main gaps and opportunities?

Following the project kick-off, Baltic Blue Resilience (BBR) partners have started the first activities under GoA1.1, focusing on mapping regional stakeholders and ecosystems across the participating regions in Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland and Denmark.

This work is the first step towards developing a better understanding of the regional water landscape and creating a solid knowledge base for the next stages of the BBR project.

The work combines several complementary activities:

  • Stakeholder identification to map relevant actors and stakeholder groups in each region;
  • Desk research drawing on existing water strategies, policy documents, scientific publications and other relevant sources;
  • Stakeholder interviews to complement existing information with local knowledge and practical perspectives;
  • Regional workshops to engage stakeholders in discussing regional water-related needs, priorities, gaps and opportunities;
  • Mini surveys to gather feedback and establish a baseline for knowledge and stakeholder engagement.

By bringing these different pieces together, BBR aims to develop a comprehensive picture of the water-related priorities, challenges and opportunities in each participating region.

The collected knowledge will contribute to Deliverable 1.1: Report on regional water priorities, gaps and opportunities. The findings will also provide a foundation for the following project activities, including cross-regional cooperation, knowledge exchange and the co-creation of responses to local water challenges.

This is where the BBR journey starts: understanding regional ecosystems, connecting with the right stakeholders and putting the first pieces together for stronger water resilience across the Baltic Sea Region.
