Baltic Approaches to Handling Plastic Pollution under a Circular Economy Context
BALTIPLAST

Launching the educational kit for local authorities and educating them in interactive events

19 June 2025
Throughout June 2025, our partner UBC Sustainable Cities Commission, in the frame of our BALTIPLAST project, launched a digital educational kit for local authorities and engaged them in a series of training events to deepen the understanding of plastic pollution consequences and prevention methods for local authorities in the Baltic Sea Region.
Technical details

You can now register on our website (see instructions below) and explore our interactive content. Our platform builds on the knowledge and experiences accumulated throughout the BALTIPLAST project and is designed to equip local authorities, schools, businesses, and households with practical tools and resources for reducing plastic waste. We developed the BALTIPLAST Educational Kit, specifically for experts in municipalities and public service providers. It is now available on the Platform to provide support in reducing single-use plastic and improving plastic waste management.

Our interactive educational kit offers attractive case studies from cities, training videos, and other user-friendly materials tailored to different needs to help local actors take meaningful steps toward a circular and plastic-free future.

To spread the word about the Platform and increase the understanding of plastic pollution challenges and effective solutions, in June we launched three training events, which educated approximately 70 experts in sustainability, circular economy and climate!

These events engaged participants in a series of expert presentations from the project consortium, introduction videos and interactive discussions. At the opening of each event, Andrea Dobri, our BALTIPLAST communication manager from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, introduced our project and explained how we developed strategic guidelines, practical tools, and raised public awareness about plastic pollution.
