Making Climate Data Work Better for Spatial Planning

23 October 2026
On 22 October, Baltic PlaNet brought stakeholders together for an online co-creation workshop to explore how climate information can better support spatial planning through the Sea2Land Navigator.
Technical details

More than 30 participants from across the Baltic Sea Region actively engaged in interactive tasks, sharing ideas, identifying needs and voting to prioritise key themes for further exploration. Their questions and feedback provided valuable insights into how climate information could better support spatial planning through the Sea2Land Navigator.

💡 What did we learn?

🔹 Planning for different futures matters. Participants highlighted the importance of considering low, median and high climate projections to support more robust decisions under uncertainty.

🔹 Climate data needs a planning context. Combining climate information with data on communities, public health, infrastructure, biodiversity and ecosystem services could provide a more integrated understanding of climate risks and resilience.

🔹 Local needs matter. Participants raised questions about the appropriate scale of the “My Area” feature and how climate information could better support local and regional planning.

👉 What’s next?

The workshop feedback will help guide the further development of Sea2Land Navigator. The project team will take participants’ questions, suggestions and identified needs into account to make the platform more practical and relevant to spatial planning and climate adaptation.

A big thank you to everyone who actively participated, shared their expertise and helped shape the next steps for Sea2Land Navigator!
