Technical details

This autumn, Baltic PlaNet will organise several workshops and webinars designed to strengthen knowledge and practical skills for climate-resilient spatial planning across the Baltic Sea Region. Bringing together planners, public authorities, researchers, climate experts, and other stakeholders, the events will provide opportunities to exchange experiences, explore Sea2Land Navigator tool, and discuss and learn practical solutions for integrating climate change adaptation into planning processes.

Join the Baltic PlaNet stakeholder network and be among the first to receive invitations to project events, webinars, and workshops. Join the network here.

Sea2Land Navigator workshop, Autumn 2026

The Sea2Land Navigator supports spatial planners in developing coastal or maritime spatial plans, guiding them through the whole spatial planning cycle from initial assessment to monitoring. It helps address complex tasks such as coordinating across overlapping jurisdictions, identifying key stakeholders, and defining objectives.

There is, however, an important part underdeveloped: how to effectively integrate climate change and extreme weather events? How should plans manage inundation zones, coastal erosion, or increasing storm intensity, for example?

This is the challenge the Baltic PlaNet project is addressing. Building on outcomes from multiple EU initiatives, we are redesigning the Sea2Land Navigator to incorporate climate risks to enable spatial planners develop more robust and helpful plans.

The workshop in Autumn 2026 is aimed at spatial planners focused on the coast or the maritime space. It will present new design proposals for integrating climate change angle into the Navigator. Participants will play an active role in shaping the tool, contributing their expertise and feedback to ensure it meets real planning needs.

Community engagement next stops: Estonia and Poland

Following the successful workshop in Jūrmala, Baltic PlaNet will continue its community engagement activities this autumn in Gdańsk, Poland, and Lääne-Harju, Estonia. Bringing together local stakeholders, authorities, and researchers, these workshops will explore flood risks, social vulnerability, and adaptation priorities to ensure local knowledge plays a central role in building climate resilience across the Baltic Sea Region.

Online webinars

Webinar “Understanding Climate Change” (October 2026)

This webinar provides a foundational understanding of climate science, and climate change impacts. It explores future climate projections for the region and assesses the specific impacts on various territory, such as coastal zones.

Target audience: planners, climate officers, decision-makers and stakeholders seeking to better understand climate change impacts and adaptation pathways in the Baltic Sea Region.

Webinar “Climate Action Tools and Techniques” (February 2027)

This webinar focuses on practical tools and techniques for addressing climate change. It covers climate change adaptation planning, climate-smart spatial planning, nature-based solutions, and climate change mitigation strategies. Participants will learn how to develop effective climate adaptation plans, integrate climate considerations into spatial planning processes.

Target audience: practitioners, planners and experts looking for practical tools and solutions to strengthen climate resilience.

Webinar: “Collaborative Climate Action” (May 2027)

Webinar emphasizes the importance of collaboration and cooperation in addressing climate change. It covers cross-sectoral collaboration, multi-level governance, stakeholder engagement, and policy and decision-making. Participants will learn how to work effectively with different stakeholders, influence policy processes, and build public support for climate action.

Target audience: policy makers, public authorities, NGOs and cooperation networks interested in governance, stakeholder engagement and collaborative climate action.
