BAB Project Partners Reunite in Beautiful Tallinn Old Town

31 October 2024
Technical details

The BAB project partners had the pleasure of meeting once more in person in the picturesque Tallinn Old Town 15.-16.10.2024. Toomas Leelov from CityBike, a BAB project partner and an enthusiastic developer and entrepreneur in cycling tourism field, hosted the partnership for two days.

On the first day, the project partners were joined by Estonian tourism destination management organizations from local to regional and national level. Special thanks to Visit Estonia, Visit Tallinn, and the Center for Entrepreneurship and Development SA Harju Ettevõtlus- ja Arenduskeskus (HEAK) for their inspirational engagement in the meeting. The project partners presented the results of the route assessments in Estonia, Poland, Sweden, and Finland. These presentations highlighted the development status of the EuroVelo routes in each country and provided valuable insights for a workshop on route descriptions, which will be developed over the winter. With the help of the DMOs, we managed to create an action plan for publishing information on the EuroVelo routes through relevant tourism marketing channels.

We also had the pleasure of learning more about CityBike’s core business, including bike rentals and tours. We tested CityBike’s self-guided bike tour product in the lovely Tallinn. Blessed with good October weather, we enjoyed a sunny ride along the seacoast and through the city, exploring sights and analyzing the newly established cycling infrastructure. The tour also underscored the necessity of realigning the EuroVelo routes in a developing city. With the help of the BAB project, a plan can be made to adjust the route accordingly.

We’d like to thank all the project partners and stakeholders for a fruitful meeting! We are inspired to work on the route descriptions to have them ready by the 2025 cycling season.
