Exploring New Pathways: Knowledge Transfer Workshop on “Arts on Prescription” Held in Lithuania
15 July 2025
The first of two interactive sessions dedicated to exploring ways to enhance the development of Arts on Prescription and improve service delivery through innovative approaches and meaningful connections has successfully taken place in Lithuania.
This workshop was part of the Interreg BSR project Arts on Prescription in the Baltic Sea Region, in which the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is an active partner. The project aims to familiarise participants with the Arts on Prescription methodology, identify effective opportunities for its implementation in Lithuania, and develop a strategic framework for further integrating Social Prescribing approaches, such as Arts on Prescription, into the country’s health and social care systems.
The moderated session brought together LSMU staff, representatives from the Ministries of Health and Culture, local municipalities, healthcare professionals, social workers, arts organisations, and other key stakeholders in the ecosystem. Participants exchanged experiences, reflected on international practices, and collaboratively envisioned the future of arts-based health interventions in Lithuania.
Session Highlights
The session was facilitated by Viktoras Urbis, Innovation Expert at GovTech Lab, who guided participants through an engaging process of shared discovery and creative problem-solving.
By fostering dialogue between sectors and encouraging innovative thinking, this workshop marked an important step towards integrating cultural and creative practices into Lithuania’s well-being and healthcare frameworks. The outcomes and insights from this session will inform the next phase of the project and contribute to building a more holistic, people-centred approach to health across the Baltic Sea Region.
