Arts on Prescription Showcased at the EUSBSR Annual Forum in Sopot, PL
20 November 2025
The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Forum, held in Sopot on 29-30 October 2025, gathered policymakers, experts, and researchers from across the region to discuss resilience, energy security, and climate-neutral growth. Among the many inspiring contributions, our Interreg BSR project Arts on Prescription in the Baltic Sea Region stood out as a compelling example of how creativity can support healthier and more resilient communities.
At the Forum’s Networking Village, partners from the Arts on Prescription project – Turku University of Applied Sciences and the West Pomeranian Region – presented key results and demonstrated how art-based social prescribing can strengthen social well-being. Their stand attracted significant interest, particularly for the project’s Pixi Book, which offers an accessible and engaging introduction to the themes of the Arts on Prescription Guide.
As one of the event organisers and an active partner in the project, the West Pomeranian Region also introduced creative breaks during longer panel sessions. These activities were inspired by the successful Arts on Prescription in Practice workshop held in Gdańsk in 2024 and offered Forum participants a moment to recharge and experience the benefits of artistic engagement firsthand.
Mental health and innovative wellbeing solutions featured prominently throughout the Forum. These themes were further explored during the Day of Cities and Regions, organised by the Baltic Sea States Subregional Cooperation (BSSSC), and in two thematic workshops. The first, led by Policy Area Education (Föreningen Norden and Region Västerbotten), focused on Economy of Wellbeing of People – Sustainable Working Lives in the Baltic Sea Region. The second, hosted by Policy Area Health (Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being), tackled the timely question: When Yoga Session Is Not Enough. How to sustainably promote mental well-being at work?
With successive crises continuing to impact societies across the Baltic Sea Region, mental health remains a critical focus for the years ahead. Arts on Prescription offers a powerful and evidence-based approach to supporting resilience, social connection, and community wellbeing – making culture a vital component of sustainable development.
