Advancing energy citizenship: Project implementation in Poland

In Poland, the planning process for testing the The Sea2Land Navigator Tool differs from the traditional approach. Rather than a distinct planning phase, the tool’s elements will be tested organically throughout the case study. Both IOPAN and ZMiGM teams, along with various stakeholders from different locations and sectors, will engage in semi-structured interviews and workshops.

The groundwork for this testing has been laid through extensive stakeholder engagement, informed by the partners’ activities in other projects and internal communication channels of ZMiGM.

To ensure diverse stakeholder participation, a professional market research company will be engaged, and recruitment for testing and evaluating the The Sea2Land Navigator Tool will be conducted among ZMiGM members. This collaborative approach reflects the success of previous projects that employed a similar research and piloting model.

The preparation of the pilots involves engaging target groups and refining the research methodology. Both partners, IOPAN and ZMiGM, utilize their daily activities to gather insights on energy citizenship and offshore wind farms, which inform the methodological development. The involvement of relevant partners is emphasized, and their participation is facilitated through direct interactions and the market research company.

The aim of the Polish pilot is to create a road map for establishing “energy citizenship” within coastal municipalities. The focus is on identifying challenges and opportunities to garner support for sustainable energy solutions, particularly offshore wind farms. While the The Sea2Land Navigator Tool is not fully operationalized, the Polish case study aims to contribute to its pillars, including stakeholder mapping, action goal setting, and collaborative action design.

In summary, the BalticSea2Land project’s implementation in Poland showcases a collaborative and adaptive approach to testing the Sea2Land Navigator Tool, contributing to the development of energy citizenship and sustainable solutions in coastal municipalities.
