Steps into Silence – Trīsuļi, Latvia
12 February 2026
Within the Light in the Dark project, a regional competition for new off‑season tourism products was organised in the Kurzeme region in autumn 2025. The nature‑based experience Steps into Silence, developed by Trīsuļi, was selected as one of the competition winners and invited to continue into the project’s piloting phase.
The piloting in February marked an important step in moving the experience from concept to real‑life testing under off‑season conditions.
Experience description
Steps into Silence is a slow, mindful nature experience designed for the quieter months of the year. The experience invites participants to step out of everyday routines and into a winter forest setting, where silence, presence, and sensory awareness take the lead.
The experience begins with a calm arrival at the Trīsuļi farmstead, followed by an intentionally unhurried walk through the surrounding coniferous forest. During the walk, participants are guided into moments of silence and simple mindfulness practices, allowing space to listen, observe, and reconnect with nature without distraction.
The experience concludes back at the farmstead with a simple tea ceremony by the campfire — creating a warm and reflective ending that contrasts with the stillness of the forest walk.
About the piloting
The pilot was organised as part of the Light in the Dark project’s structured testing process, which supports small and medium‑sized tourism enterprises in developing meaningful off‑season experiences. By piloting Steps into Silence in winter conditions, the project explored how calm, silence‑based experiences can offer value during the low season — when nature is quieter and visitor expectations differ from peak summer tourism.
Participants were invited to reflect on the experience before and after the pilot, contributing insights that will support the further development of the product before wider market introduction.
