Teatr Grodzki
09 June 2026
Teatr Grodzki in Bielsko-Biała brings piloting into a cultural and social setting where theatre, art and community work are closely connected. The pilot addresses challenges related to information, communication and transparency, as well as motivation and incentive structures. Teatr Grodzki is used under a loan agreement with the city and works with people with disabilities, seniors, long-term participants in community arts, educators, therapists, support staff, artists and cultural workers. The building is located in a historic tenement building and includes a small black box theatre, workshop rooms for art and therapeutic activities, offices and spaces that are partially adapted for accessibility. It dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and consists of a higher single-storey building of 169.6 m², a lower single-storey building of 98.4 m², a four-storey building with a built-up area of 1,653 m² and a passage of approximately 185 m².
Key aspects of the pilot:
- Inclusive and creative formats: The pilot will use workshops in visual arts, storytelling and performance. These formats reflect the organisation’s existing work with creative expression, rehabilitation and social inclusion. For instance, a user-curated exhibition or showcase will make contributions visible. Participants will furthermore be involved through a participatory energy walk-through of the building.
- Adapted energy awareness: Energy-awareness sessions will be adapted to the needs of the different groups involved. The approach is based on comfort, routine, trust and participation tools that fit the users’ diverse abilities and needs.
Teatr Grodzki will explore how energy awareness can be introduced in an inclusive cultural organisation through routines, adapted participation and creative formats.
The pilot is conducted by Flip-EC project partner Regional Development Agency in Bielsko-Biała (ARRSA).
