LSTS Dormitory 1
09 June 2026
Liepāja State Technical School Dormitory No. 1 is implementing a pilot focused on reducing unnecessary energy and water consumption in everyday dormitory life. The pilot addresses challenges related to inconsistent user behaviour, limited awareness of sustainable practices among residents, high student turnover and the shared use of living spaces. It also responds to limited communication between dormitory administration, technical staff and residents.
Key aspects of the pilot:
- Awareness-raising and visual reminders: The pilot will use communication activities, educational materials and simple behavioural nudges to encourage residents to save energy and water in their daily routines. Stickers will be placed on light switches and power outlets as reminders for responsible energy use.
- Student engagement and communication: Students will be involved through student-made social media videos on energy efficiency and a contest for dormitory residents. The contest will also encourage students to develop a contest for other students.
- Energy Detectives and data analysis: Water and energy data will be analysed as part of the pilot. An Energy Detectives and best-practice workshop will also be organised.
The pilot is conducted by Flip-EC project partner Liepāja State Technical School.
