Culture House Kilden
09 June 2026
Culture House Kilden in Brøndby is an open cultural centre with a library, a concert hall, bookable rooms for unions and organisations, and a large industrial kitchen. Its users are diverse and change frequently, which makes it difficult to base the pilot mainly on external building users. For this reason, the pilot focuses especially on staff behaviour and on developing clearer guidance for everyday use of the building. Kilden was constructed in 2000 and has a total area of 2,581.2 m².
Key aspects of the pilot:
- Guidelines for everyday building use: The pilot will develop best-practice behavioural guidelines on electricity and water use. These guidelines will focus on areas where staff can influence consumption through everyday behaviour and will be integrated into relevant structures.
- Awareness through creative formats: An interactive art installation about heating from radiators is planned as part of Klimahandledag (Climate Action Day) 2026. This activity will be used to raise awareness of energy consumption in the building.
- Consumption data: The optional visualisation of consumption data on screens may be used to make energy use more visible.
- Energy pilots network: Kilden is also part of Brøndby’s “energy pilots” network, which brings together representatives from the pilot sites in Brøndby every three months to evaluate, share insights and discuss how experiences can be scaled to similar institutions in the municipality.
The pilot responds to the fact that much of the building is automated, while technical systems such as light sensors and thermostats are not uniform throughout the entire house. It will test how staff-focused guidelines, awareness activities and peer exchange can support better energy behaviour in a busy cultural centre.
The pilot is conducted by Flip-EC project partner Brøndby Kommune.
