Technical details

The piloting of the BalMarGrav product – homogenized marine gravity dataset of southern and eastern Baltic Sea – was carried out from 9 to 23 September, 2024. The dataset was downloaded from the NKG/FAMOS/BalMarGrav gravity database, as a source #1000, by 11 institutions:

  • AGH University of Krakow (AGH, Poland),
  • Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG, Germany),
  • Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resource (BGR, Germany),
  • Geological Survey of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LUNG, Germany),
  • Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS, Denmark),
  • Head Office of the Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK, Poland),
  • Hydrographic Office of the Polish Navy (BHMW, Poland),
  • Lantmäteriet (Sweden),
  • Latvian Geoinformation Spatial Agency (LGIA, Latvia),
  • Norwegian Mapping Agency (Norway).
  • University of Life Science in Wrocław (UPWr, Poland).

The on-line survey was completed by 6 participants reporting that they had no problems with downloading the source #1000 from the NKG/FAMOS/BalMarGrav gravity database and that the downloaded data met their expectations. 3 participants also posted comments –  all positive.

We would like to thank all the participants for testing our product. We hope that it contribute to improving the mapping of the marine gravity field in the southern and eastern Baltic Sea region and can be used in daily work of many geodetic, geophysical and geological institutions.
