Description

The session with the title “Counteracting Baltic Sea Region Water Scarcity –  Building Water-Smart Cities Through Regenerative Water and Nutrient Cycles” addresses the increasing water stress caused by climate change, which affects various sectors, including tourism, urban management, and public policies. It presents outcomes & lessons learnt from the Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects (WaterMan, ReNutriWater, NURSECOAST-II, and CityBlues) and explores synergies between them to foster climate resilient water management in the BSR.

Key topics include:

  • Integrating water recycling into local water supply schemes
  • Nature-based solutions (NBS) and closed-loop systems
  • Waste-to-resource practices and nutrient recovery
  • Managing seasonal population surges and stormwater

The panel discussion is jointly organised by PA Nutri of the EUSBSR, the Water Core Group of Euroregion Baltic, the Association of Polish Communes Euroregion Baltic, as well as the Interreg BSR projects WaterMan, Nursecoast II, ReNutriWater, and CityBlues.
