Transnational Online Event: Genetic Monitoring of Forest Trees in the Baltic Sea Region

Project: DIVERSE_GENE_WATCH
Virtual event

Description

Genetic diversity is a crucial component of biodiversity. This event addresses solutions for cost-effective monitoring of forest genetic resources (FGR) in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) using novel technologies.

Selected examples from ongoing European forest gene conservation and monitoring programs are presented along with the plans for monitoring the ongoing genetic dynamics of five keystone tree species in the Baltic forests (DIVERSE_GENE_WATCH).

A panel discussion will be dedicated to reflecting on the added value of international cooperation for transnational forest genetic monitoring systems that can capture trends and guide solutions on a regional scale.
