Project kick-off

Project: ENGAGE Islands
Physical Meeting
We're coming together in Visby for the official ENGAGE Islands kick-off, 27 August 2026.

Description

On 27 August 2026, the ENGAGE Islands partnership will gather in Visby, Gotland, for the project's official kick-off event.

Hosted by Science Park Gotland, the event brings together all five partners — IKEM (DE), the Estonian Islands Energy Agency (EE), Science Park Gotland (SE), Åland University of Applied Sciences (FI) and Bornholm Regional Municipality (DK) — alongside associated organisations and local stakeholders from across the Baltic Sea Region.

We are reviewing and refreshing the ENGAGE Islands purpose and work plan, including its three phases: SEED (community-based demonstration activities), BLOOM (operational models for local ownership) and HARVEST (a multilingual resource pack for islands and rural regions across the Baltic Sea Region). The event also offers an opportunity for early exchange and networking with island municipalities, business support organisations and civil society groups engaged in the green transition.

Visby, Gotland's historic capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site, provides a fitting setting: an island community balancing heritage and tourism with the pressures and opportunities of the green transition that sit at the heart of the project.
