Macro-regional & Sea Basin Strategies Days

Physical Meeting

Description

#Strategies4cooperation

On 24–25 September 2025, in Brussels, the eight EU strategies, Alpine, Danube, Adriatic-Ionian, Baltic Sea, Atlantic, Western Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Greater North Sea, will come together for a two-day event.

As part of the programme, a dedicated workshop titled “Transnational Interreg programmes: strengthening cooperation in Macro-regions and Sea basins” will explore how Interreg Transnational Programmes contribute to implementing macro-regional and sea basin strategies, both now and in the future.

This interactive session will offer insights into the added value of transnational programmes, highlighting their role in connecting policies, regions, and stakeholders. The discussion will focus on successes to date, areas for joint improvement, and ideas for more robust collaboration moving forward.

The Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme contributes to the session, sharing perspectives on its support to the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR).

As the EU prepares for the post-2027 programming period, the workshop provides a timely opportunity to reflect, assess, and spark innovation. By fostering dialogue among programme representatives, strategy coordinators, and EU institutions, the session aims to reinforce synergies and ensure that transnational cooperation continues to deliver tangible results in a complex policy landscape.
