KISMET Final Conference

The KISMET Final Conference, which will take place from 10 to 13 November 2025 in Rantasalmi–Savonlinna, Finland, is set in the enchanting Lakeland region of Eastern Finland. Savonlinna is embraced by the vast Lake Saimaa — the largest in Finland and one of Europe’s most impressive — and famed for its historic Olavinlinna Castle and rich culinary traditions. Organized by our colleagues at Prizztech Ltd and Xamk, the unique natural and cultural setting could not be more fitting for the closing chapter of a project that has been as distinctive and meaningful as the past three years of our shared journey.

Over the course of three days, partners and friendship cities will gather to look back on the results of our joint work, share lessons from the Local Innovation Partnerships and showcase solutions developed within the project. Together, we will reflect on achievements, wrap up results and finalize the “Durability Master Plan” to secure long-term impact while also exploring next steps for cooperation between friendship cities and partners. Study visits in Savonlinna will enrich the program by offering first-hand insights into how sustainability is put into practice locally. Participants will learn from Savonlinna Development Services about regional growth strategies, explore innovative approaches to food provision at Savonlinna’s Food Services and experience sustainable school catering during lunch at a local primary school.

As the project comes to a close, there will surely be both happy and sad tears — celebrating our achievements while acknowledging the end of an official chapter. Yet, this moment will only strengthen our ties even further, offering the chance to reflect, celebrate and set the stage for future collaboration. Together in Savonlinna, we will honor what has been accomplished and look ahead to how KISMET’s legacy will continue to support and promote more regional, circular and sustainable food environments across the Baltic Sea Region.
