Description

Experts to discuss how to advance effective coastal and maritime spatial planning across governance levels in the Baltic Sea Region.

The workshop will explore current challenges, emerging macroregional recommendations, and how shared planning practices can support meaningful change — from local to national, with a view toward sea basin–scale impact.

In focus will be:

  • Brief introduction to current challenges: insights from the BalticSea2Land project on national, regional, and local perspectives (from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany).
  • Information on current macroregional recommendations – revision of HELCOM Recommendation 24/10R on Implementation of integrated coastal management and maritime spatial planning in the Baltic Sea (available here) and update of VASAB Common Recommendations for Spatial Planning of the Coastal Zone in the Baltic Sea Region (available here).
  • Moderated expert roundtable discussion.

Seminar will take place 17 June 2025 | 09:00–12:00 CEST (10:00–13:00 EET) | Online.
