Participation in FORTHEM alliance conference
From January 29 to January 31, 2025, team from University of Latvia (PP2) participated in the 2nd FORTHEM Annual Conference, "Connecting Worlds of Science and Society. In addition to highlighting the FORTHEM Alliance's efforts to close the gap between science and society through research-driven outreach projects, this conference emphasised the critical role that science plays in shaping a sustainable, inclusive, and inventive future for all.
The conference's objectives were to address urgent issues, promote multidisciplinary discussion, and improve global competitiveness. CEforestry project was presented by PhD Linards Klavins in the section “Climate Change and resource management: strategies for a sustainable future” with the oral presentation “Biorefinery solutions to valorize logging residues from the forestry sector”.
FORTHEM Alliance brings together a new generation of creative minds able to cooperate across languages, borders and disciplines to address the societal challenges and skills shortages Europe faces. FORTHEM is a network of nine multidisciplinary public research universities with a strong regional anchoring in Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain.
