The partners of Redirect met in Helsinki, Finland on October 29 – 30. 2025 to develop and align our work in the project going forward.
We started out by visiting Hawkhill: A resort of cabins about an hour's drive from Helsinki.
A very beautiful place, where the people are working on several regenerative projects. The Redirect partners were given an inspirational lecture about Hawkhill’s removal of the invasive plant, lupin. During summer, the removal of lupins helps to protect and help the local fauna grow. The event is a collaborative effort between guests staying at Hawkhill and the locals from the nearest villages.
The Redirect partners were also shown some of Hawkhill’s small bug hotels made by guests to be placed around the property, to help bugs thrive in the area.
After the Hawkhill house tour, the partners gathered for a workshop of activities and deliverables within the project. The purpose and requirements of the Advisory and Expertise Committee were defined, and it was planned how to involve and activate stakeholders in the project moving forward. There will be a follow-up meeting in the beginning of 2026 for the Advisory and Expertise Committee including presentations by activity leaders.
During the day the project partners discussed The Toolkit, The Savoir Vivre, the Regenerative Calculator and The Checklist, and we decided on a shared definition of Regenerative Tourism. A definition we needed, in order to be aligned in the ongoing work within the project.
In the afternoon, the BSR joined us at Hawkhill. Project partners were given tools and advice on how to develop and continue the project, as well as advice on project reporting.
The following morning, the partners met in Helsinki to go through and plan upcoming dates for Advisory and Expertise Committee meetings in 2026 and the next conference in Latvia. Furthermore, deadlines were set for the survey template and partners’ feedback via Teams.
The deadline for a communication strategy and communication plan was agreed upon for end-2025.
Finally, it was time to say goodbye after two very inspirational, productive days, showcasing the value of international collaboration and co-creation.
Thank you to all of you in Helsinki for a beautiful stay.
