Coffee with KISMET #17

Project: KISMET
Virtual event
Research on sustainability of public meals in Södertälje municipality

Description

As the first municipality ever Södertälje, Sweden, contracted Consupedia to analyse all food purchases made during a year. Serving 17 000 portions per day adds up to a sizeable amount and in the municipality, we want to ensure that the purchases result in tasty, healthy and sustainable meals.

Consupedia started as a research project and developed into a company offering sustainability data on food down to the ingredient level. Using AI and connecting to all the best available databases, Consupedia produces a report analysing 15 sustainability parameters, including climate, water use, biodiversity, transport, and land use.

In this Coffee with KISMET Consupedia’s founder Roberto Rufo Gonzalez will share his answer to the question in the headline and guide us through what the company has to offer municipalities, food producers, wholesalers, retailers and all their customers. Sara Seing, head of the Diet Unit in Södertälje municipality, will share her perspective on the usefulness of the data provided and some practical applications of it.
