Supported by Nature is part of the session “Co-creating with people and nature: inclusive NBS to promote justice and equity for building sustainable, resilient, and liveable cities” on Wednesday 20 May.
The session explores how nature-based solutions (NBS) can be designed and implemented to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and human well-being, while ensuring inclusivity, equity, and community empowerment. It highlights frameworks, governance approaches, and case studies that integrate ecosystem services with social justice and participatory processes.
By bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, the session aims to share practical experiences, identify challenges, and develop actionable guidance for implementing inclusive NBS that deliver both ecological and social benefits.
The conference brings together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to explore how ecosystem services can support sustainable and equitable development in Europe. It focuses on integrating nature’s values into policy and practice to address challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequalities, while also examining how new EU policies can be translated into effective action and cross-sector collaboration.
The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) is a global network that connects ecosystem services scientists, practitioners, stakeholders, and policymakers on different topics at local, national, regional, and global scales. ESP aims to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation, and to build a strong network of individuals and organisations working on ecosystem services. ESP enhances and encourages a diversity of approaches while reducing unnecessary duplication of effort in the conceptualisation and application of ecosystem services.
ESP connects over 3000 ecosystem services scientists, policymakers and practitioners who work together in more than 40 Working Groups and a growing number of National Networks on all continents. The community gathers regularly at global and regional conferences.
