Technical details

How can circular living become an integral part of our neighbourhoods? On 14 October 2026 this question was at the heart of Forum Bezirke in Hamburg, where the three local Circ@Home partners – Baltic Environmental Forum Germany (BEF), Goldbekhaus and UVM – presented the project and exchanged ideas with local initiatives and district representatives.

The meeting brought together a diverse group of actors, including KulturKlinker Barmbek, the Hamburg Climate Protection Foundation, the Climate Working Group in Barmbek-Süd, and the Polykulturen – Learning Space for Urban Ecology and Design, a new community space in Hamburg-Hammerbrook developed by Hallo: e.V., bringing together environmental education, circular thinking and neighbourhood engagement.

The discussion also benefited from perspectives within Hamburg-Nord’s district administration, with the representative responsible for education coordination and the Partnership for Democracy bringing a valuable public-sector dimension to the exchange.

Following the project presentation, participants engaged in an in-depth discussion about policy-related questions and the opportunities and challenges of advancing circular living in Hamburg. The focused setting allowed for meaningful dialogue, bringing together different perspectives from community initiatives, environmental education and public administration.

The Hamburg partners also introduced teilen & schrauben, the Circularity Hub at Goldbekhaus, where households and local actors explore practical solutions for repair, reuse, sharing and more sustainable everyday habits.

The exchange at Forum Bezirke offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen local connections, explore potential collaborations and discuss how circular approaches could be supported and expanded beyond the existing pilot activities.
