Technical details

Two service designers at Ängelholm Hospital take us through their work and show why supporting patients with digital services has become part of the job

Booking an appointment online, reading a test result in an app, meeting a doctor by video: for many patients in the Baltic Sea region, this is already everyday healthcare. For others, it is a barrier. And when they ask for help, the person in front of them is usually a nurse, a midwife or a receptionist – someone who was never trained for this.

Ängelholm Hospital in Sweden has decided not to leave that to chance. In this short film, service designers Beatrice Bolmgren Gustavsson and Erika Börjesson explain why the hospital takes part in the DEAHL Baltic project and how it aims on strengthening the digital health literacy of its staff: the ability to search for, understand and use digital health information, and to pass that ability on to patients.

Together partners from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Sweden they are building the DEAHLKit, a free online training course for healthcare professionals and healthcare managers. From autumn 2026, hospitals and healthcare organisations in five countries – including Ängelholm – will put it into practice and feed their experience back into the material.

What happens in Ängelholm is therefore not a Swedish solution alone. Each partner works in a different healthcare system and at a different stage of digital maturity, and what one site learns shapes what the others receive. This film is one of those learning moments, made visible.

Watch the film (2 minutes) to see how the work unfolds at Ängelholm Hospital.
