YAMP

In the project YAMP, public authorities, NGOs and business support organisations engage young people in reinventing local marketplaces into community-driven and resilient spaces, which strengthen local economies.
Local marketplaces with goods grown or made locally are more than places to trade; they connect rural producers with consumers and can catalyse social activation in rural and peripheral areas. However, they need to strengthen organisational arrangements and collaborative governance to enhance their attractiveness and compete with global supply chains. In light of these challenges, YAMP aligns with these efforts at local, regional and national levels to reinvent marketplaces and adapt to new realities. In this regard, and as an innovative aspect, the YAMP project seeks to revitalise marketplaces by engaging young people as co-creators of transformation. Young people act as a bridge between traditional marketplaces and the future, bringing local knowledge, digital skills and entrepreneurial energy. In this context, a genuine youth involvement can support public authorities and institutions of the common good, which play a central role in organising marketplaces, whether by providing infrastructure or managing and regulating their functioning. Keeping the needs of target groups in mind, YAMP will offer public authorities, business support organisations and NGOs engaged in marketplace initiatives a best-practice toolbox based on pilot activities implemented under the project focused on participation, space, digitalisation and promotion. This will help marketplaces evolve into innovative, community-driven spaces that strengthen local identity and resilience.
