Materials on the pilot Sensory garden in Poznan
29 December 2025
A model sensory garden in Poznan is organized as a zoned, accessible route that guides visitors from a storytelling entrance through activity, focus and relaxation areas. The feet trail filled with varied sensory-friendly materials (pebbles, quartz sand, gravel and bark) is accompanied by raised pots filled with pine cones, pebbles and moss so people in wheelchairs can explore variety of sensory textures by hand. Pergolas with colorful roofs, seasonal plantings and wind chimes mark entry and seasonal themes. Sensory activities are provided not only by sensory-friendly plants but also a 3D tactile concrete mural of leaf shapes and a visual pebble-stream mural with painted elements such as colorful 3D illusion stones, water flower and koi fish, all of them designed to engage sight, smell, touch and hearing while supporting play, mindfulness and environmental learning.
