Description

The expert workshop, aimed at SEABAS project partners and associated partners,  aims to initiate the alignment of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) guidance and recommendations with requirements of EU Nature Restoration law.

The session will:

  • Establish a shared understanding of the objectives and scope of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR) in the marine context, with particular attention to maritime spatial planning (MSP) and Strategic Environmental Assessment.
  • Identify key opportunities for integrating marine ecosystem restoration needs into Strategic Environmental Assessment and maritime spatial planning processes.

The workshop is held within activity 1.2. of the SEABAS project. The workshop will provide initial mapping of relevant Strategic Environmental Assessment stages and components against EU Nature Restoration Regulation's restoration objectives for marine ecosystems, and an initial set of key opportunities and entry points for integrating EU Nature Restoration Regulation's restoration objectives into Strategic Environmental Assessment.
