Presented topic: REDIRECT – Regenerative Tourism in the Baltic Sea Region for Resilient Communities towards a Circular Economy
The Enterprise Europe Network Tourism Sector Group meeting brought together EEN tourism experts and partner organisations to discuss EU tourism policy updates, cooperation with thematic networks, SME support tools and new initiatives for the tourism sector. The agenda included updates from EISMEA and DG GROW, cooperation with NECSTouR and Eurochambres, the EU Tourism Platform, working group activities, funding opportunities and synergies with other EEN groups. The REDIRECT project was presented during the “Experiences by territories” session as an example of an initiative combining regenerative tourism, circular economy and SME support.
DARR S.A. presented the concept of regenerative tourism as an approach that goes beyond sustainability by creating positive environmental, social and economic impacts for local communities and destinations. The REDIRECT project, implemented under Interreg Baltic Sea Region, aims to develop and test practical tools supporting regenerative tourism practices, including circular solutions, behavioural guidance and methods for measuring impact. The presentation highlighted how EEN centres can support the project by involving tourism SMEs, destinations, local service providers and business support organisations in consultation, testing and dissemination activities. EEN’s experience in SME support, internationalisation, innovation, sustainability and access to funding creates strong potential for cooperation with REDIRECT.
Cooperation opportunities between EEN and REDIRECT
Possible cooperation may include identifying SMEs and regional stakeholders interested in regenerative tourism, supporting the testing and validation of the REDIRECT toolkit, organising webinars or workshops, collecting feedback from tourism entrepreneurs, and promoting project results through the EEN Tourism Sector Group. EEN may also help tourism SMEs find international partners for regenerative tourism products, circular tourism services, sustainable visitor experiences and innovation projects through its business cooperation tools and partner-search activities.
Conclusions
The meeting confirmed that REDIRECT is well aligned with the priorities of the EEN Tourism Sector Group, especially in the areas of sustainability, innovation, SME resilience and green transition. As a follow-up, DARR S.A. and REDIRECT partners may explore joint webinars, SME consultations, toolkit dissemination, partner-search activities and cooperation with EEN members interested in piloting or replicating regenerative tourism solutions.
