Technical details

The HAZGONE Platform is currently being showcased at the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2026 at the booth of EUSBSR Policy Area Hazards, contributing to discussions across the Baltic Sea Region on hazardous substances governance and integrated approaches towards a non-toxic environment.

As one of the key cooperation events within the Baltic Sea Region, the Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) brings together policymakers, researchers, public authorities, NGOs and practitioners to exchange knowledge and strengthen cross-sector collaboration. Within this framework, the HAZGONE Platform presents its holistic upstream–downstream approach, linking prevention at the source with downstream monitoring, treatment and mitigation measures.

Visitors to the PA Hazards booth can explore the platform through an animated presentation introducing HAZGONE’s objectives, activities and conceptual approach. Normunds Vagalis, HAZGONE Platform Manager, is presenting the platform throughout the forum and engaging with participants in discussions on hazardous substances, micropollutants and lifecycle-based governance approaches.

Building on the results and knowledge developed in numerous Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects, the HAZGONE Platform aims to strengthen cooperation between public authorities, research institutions, NGOs, businesses and other stakeholders. By connecting existing expertise and practical solutions, the platform supports the transfer of knowledge into policy development and implementation across the region.

Participation in the EUSBSR Annual Forum provides an important opportunity to increase the visibility of the platform, foster new connections and further promote integrated approaches to hazardous substances management in the Baltic Sea Region.
