PestSpace Partner Meeting in Poznań and Smolice (27–29 April 2026)

From 27 to 29 April 2026, partners of the PestSpace project met in Poznań and Smolice for a three-day face-to-face meeting hosted by the Polish partners: Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IGR PAN), the University of Warsaw (UW) and HR Smolice.

The meeting provided an opportunity for productive discussions, hands-on workshops, and field visits. Partners reviewed project progress, exchanged updates, and planned the next steps for the upcoming season.

Day 1 – Progress review and planning for the season

The first day was dedicated to reviewing overall project progress and planning field activities for the next season. Partners discussed key topics, including:

  • monitoring pests and pathogens in faba bean and winter wheat;
  • pilot testing of the mobile app and disease and pest detection system;
  • progress in sampling, sequencing, and data management;
  • financial, communication, and organizational matters.

Day 2 – Digital tools in practice

The second day focused on technical workshops and the development of digital solutions. Sessions included guided visits to the laboratories and glasshouses of the IGR PAN, allowing for direct exchange of experience and discussion of ongoing research activities.

The programme also covered:

  • the use and further development of the PlutoF/GO platform;
  • the concept of a Common Data Space;
  • the mobile application for reporting plant diseases and pests;
  • the PestSpace alert system.

The workshops helped refine key functionalities and supported planning for their implementation in the next field season.

Day 3 – Visit to HR Smolice

On the final day, partners visited HR Smolice. The programme included a tour of the laboratories and field trials of faba bean and winter wheat.

The visit enabled direct exchange of experience and in-depth discussions on the practical application of project tools in real agricultural conditions.

Summary

The meeting was highly productive and took place in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere. Face-to-face discussions, workshops, and field visits strengthened cooperation among partners and confirmed the value of in-person meetings for international projects such as PestSpace.
