Flip-EC consortium strengthens cooperation at third partner meeting in Brøndby
29 April 2026
From 20th to 22nd April 2026, the Flip-EC project partners came together in Brøndby, Denmark, for the third partner meeting of the project. Hosted by Brøndby Municipality, the meeting offered an important opportunity to exchange on recent progress and launch the next phase of pilot activities.
The meeting began with an informal get-together in Copenhagen on 20th April, allowing partners to reconnect and discuss expectations for the main working sessions.
A warm welcome from Brøndby Municipality
The main meeting day took place on 21st April at Brøndby Town Hall, where partners were welcomed by Freja Lykke Jensen Groth, Brøndby’s project manager for Flip-EC, and Jesper Juelshøj, Team Lead in the Department of Construction under the Department of Public Buildings.
Jesper Juelshøj introduced some of the municipality’s key tasks related to public buildings and reflected on how participation in Flip-EC has encouraged Brøndby Municipality to look at energy consumption not only as a technical issue, but also from the perspective of user behaviour.
Moving into the next project phase
The morning sessions focused on the current state of the project and the next steps ahead. Alvine Datchoua-Tirvaudey from Lübeck provided an overview of the main cornerstones of Flip-EC, including the project structure, work packages and current stage of implementation.
Partners also reviewed selected processes and materials for the coming months, with a particular focus on the pilot activities. The discussions helped ensure a shared understanding of the next implementation steps and created space for partners to provide feedback based on their local contexts and practical experience.
Another important focus was the development of train-the-trainer materials on energy monitoring, discussed in a session led by Lukas Lubauskas from Flip-EC project partner Lithuanian Innovation Centre (LIC). The exchange was forward-looking, with partners discussing how to make the materials engaging and useful for the target groups.
Pilot activities take centre stage
A central highlight of the meeting was the exchange around the pilot activities. Lina Kiršienė from Biržai District Municipality and Ira Punkstiņa from Smiltene Municipality presented the progress made in their pilots so far. Both pilot partners shared first achievements and early lessons learned from their local activities.
Another opportunity for direct exchange was the so-called pilot fair. During the fair, all pilot partners presented their activities and challenges through posters and flipcharts, while the wider partnership shared feedback and ideas. This format was particularly appreciated, as it enabled peer learning between piloting and non-piloting partners and supported a common understanding of the next implementation steps.
Local insights from Brøndby
In the afternoon, Paw Bentsen and Tino Larsen, energy specialists from Brøndby Municipality, presented how the municipality works with energy consumption data in relation to building development and building operations. They also introduced Brøndby’s use of an energy management system and shared insights into the municipality’s energy-related activities.
Their contribution created a strong connection between the practical experience of Brøndby and the wider objectives of Flip-EC.
Developing the Flip-Library and future project outputs
Another important session focused on the Flip-Library. Frederic Zauels from Flip-EC project partner Eduversum introduced the main elements of the library, and partners worked together to explore how knowledge, tools and experiences from the project can be collected, structured and shared with the public in an accessible and useful way.
In addition, partners discussed future project outputs, communication formats and the involvement of associated organisations. Alvine Datchoua-Tirvaudey from Lübeck led a session with Group of Activities (GoA) leads on deliverables and the design of the main project output of Flip-EC — the Flip-Book. Finally, Darijus Valiucko from the project management consultancy aconium highlighted important aspects of project management, reporting and stakeholder involvement.
These discussions will help ensure that the results of Flip-EC are not only relevant for the project partners, but can also be shared with other municipalities and stakeholders interested in energy-conscious behaviour and improved energy management in public buildings.
Looking ahead
The Brøndby partner meeting once again demonstrated the strength of the Flip-EC partnership: open exchange, practical collaboration and a shared commitment to making public buildings more energy-conscious and user-oriented. The next Flip-EC partner meeting is planned to take place in Võru County in autumn 2026.
