CommitClimate at the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2025 in Sopot
At the end of October 2025, the CommitClimate project team participated in the 16th EUSBSR (EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region) Annual Forum, held in Sopot, Poland, under the theme “Securing the Future: Stronger Together – Building Stability in Times of Uncertainty”.
The forum brought together policymakers, researchers, municipalities, and industry representatives from across the Baltic Sea Region to discuss key challenges and collaborative solutions related to security, climate, and sustainable development.
Presenting CommitClimate
During the event, we presented the CommitClimate project, highlighting the developed CO₂ simulator and the main results achieved so far. The presentation focused on how the tool supports municipalities in:
- assessing current emission levels,
- modelling the impact of different policy measures,
- making data-driven decisions to achieve climate neutrality goals.
The forum provided an excellent opportunity to increase the visibility of the project and engage with potential users and partners on the practical application of the tool in different regional contexts.
Key insights from the forum
Several important themes emerged from the discussions:
- the critical role of cooperation in achieving climate neutrality,
- the importance of strengthening energy security across the region,
- enhancing societal resilience in times of uncertainty,
- addressing labour shortages through lifelong learning and strengthening STEM/STEAM education.
These topics strongly align with the objectives of CommitClimate, reinforcing the importance of data-driven approaches to local climate planning.
Networking and future collaboration
A significant part of the forum was dedicated to networking, enabling the establishment of new contacts with municipalities, research institutions, and project partners. These interactions open up opportunities for future collaboration and wider deployment of the CommitClimate tool across the Baltic Sea Region.
