Technical details

The session for the project’s 25 associated organisations and other invited stakeholders introduced the six foundations of regenerative tourism—spanning nature‑people interdependence, community leadership, value‑creation, and shared responsibility. These were illustrated through real examples from across the region, including the projects; Light in the Dark, Access Routes, 3ST, BASCIL, ReTour, and BEACH‑SOS.

Why this matters

As climate impacts intensify and expectations for responsible tourism grow, the Baltic Sea Region has a unique opportunity to lead the shift toward regenerative tourism—an approach that not only reduces harm but actively restores ecological and cultural assets while strengthening communities.

The insights gathered in the survey will directly guide RegenT’s next steps, including upcoming thematic workshops, learning materials, and the development of a comprehensive training programme for 2027.
