Leather as a Circular Material: Creative Workshop for Valmiera

On 23 January, Valmiera’s new Circularity HUB hosted a hands-on workshop, transforming how households view leather. Led by artist Magareta Svikule-Cigelniece, the event highlighted leather’s durability and potential for sustainable reuse, aligning with circular economy principles.

Participants explored leather’s properties and learned practical techniques to repurpose offcuts into unique accessories. The workshop empowered attendees with new skills, demonstrating how everyday creativity can extend material lifecycles and minimize waste.
