ClimaResponse Voices #3: Cecilia Lundberg, Åbo Akademi University
10 December 2025
Cecilia Lundberg is a Continuous Learning Counselor at Åbo Akademi University in Finland, and ClimaResponse project partner.
Åbo Akademi University plays a practical and educational role in the ClimaResponse project through the Team for Continuous Learning, which hosts the Baltic University Programme, a network of universities across the Baltic Sea region. The university contributes to Work Package 2, helping to pilot and test new approaches to climate change preparedness. It brings experience in education for sustainable development and in organising interactive learning activities, and takes part in an interdisciplinary group that tests preparedness methods in practice. Through its academic networks and long-standing engagement in regional cooperation, Åbo Akademi University supports knowledge exchange and the wider uptake of climate resilience tools across the region.
What does climate resilience mean to you, Cecilia, in the context of your organisation’s work?
Climate resilience means more knowledge, more research, more collaboration for more actions.
Why do you think building climate resilience is especially important right now?
It is only five years to 2030, and we all know that we will be far from a clue to a solution then. In a time when money is invested in security and defence, we need to plan further.
What do you hope the ClimaResponse project will actually achieve? What concrete impact do you hope it will have?
I hope ClimaResponse will lead to shared knowledge and experiences, and a common platform on how to act due to the circumstances of the Baltic Sea Region.
What is your organisation’s role in ClimaResponse?
We hope that we can facilitate the communication and learning within the project, and reach out with the results to universities in the Baltic Sea Region.
