Seminar on "Planning Lithuania's Energy Sector at the National and Municipal Levels"

On November 6, the Lithuanian Energy Institute hosted a seminar entitled “Planning Lithuania’s Energy Sector at the National and Municipal Levels,” organized by the BJR program project “Energy Equilibrium at the Municipal Level.”

Project partner from LEI have presented Energy Equilibrium project as well as the Energy Equilibrium platform, an efficient tool for municipal energy planning of renewable energy.

During the seminar, LEI project participants and guest speakers from Kaunas University of Technology, the Lithuanian Renewable Energy Confederation, and the Lithuanian Heat Suppliers Association presented various renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency measures, and investments planned at the municipal and state levels.

The speakers presented the technological, economic, and environmental aspects of these investments, the support measures needed, and the legal instruments required for the implementation of the measures.

Existing planning experience and future prospects were also assessed with a view to achieving national strategic objectives.

The following presentations were made:

  • Energy Equilibrium: project and platform (LEI);
  • Challenges for renewable energy development in Lithuania: How not to stop halfway (the Lithuanian Renewable Energy Confederation);
  • Experience in heat sector planning in municipalities (Kaunas University of Technology);
  • Prospects for renewable energy in Lithuania’s centralized heat supply market (Lithuanian District Heating Association);
  • Effective use of renewable energy sources in public buildings (Kaunas University of Technology);
  • Modeling the modernization of the municipal heating sector with nPRO (LEI).

Interesting and fruitful discussions concluded the seminar.

Forty five participants attended the seminar, live and online (the seminar was hybrid).
