The Circular Ports team was proud to participate in the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2025, contributing to discussions on greener, smarter, and more resilient maritime transport.
28 October – BSSSC Day of Cities & Regions
Organised by the Baltic Sea States Subregional Co-operation (BSSSC), this day highlighted the role of local and regional authorities in driving sustainable development across the Baltic Sea region. Participants exchanged experiences and best practices for inclusive growth, cross-border cooperation, and innovative port and urban logistics. Circular Ports observed and engaged with stakeholders from the BSR to explore how regional governance can support sustainable maritime supply chains.

29 October – Official Opening of the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2025
The main Forum programme opened under the theme “Securing the Future: Stronger Together – Building Stability in Times of Uncertainty.” Plenary sessions and networking discussions focused on aligning project initiatives, policy areas, and port authorities to accelerate green shipping and sustainable regional development.
Circular Ports Project joins “New Circular Economy Solutions” session at the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2025
Gunnar Platz from the Circular Ports Project took part in the workshop and panel discussion “New Circular Economy Solutions”. The session, organised by the coordinators of EUSBSR Policy Areas Ship, Nutri, Bioeconomy, and Hazards, brought together projects and experts to exchange perspectives on integrating circular economy principles across diverse sectors. The discussion emphasised how sustainable decision-making extends beyond consumer habits to systemic changes in industries, including shipping and port operations. The participation provided an opportunity for Circular Ports to connect with other initiatives promoting sustainable solutions and explore synergies supporting a greener, more resource-efficient Baltic Sea Region.

30 October – Closing of the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2025
The Circular Ports Project, dedicated to advancing circular economy practices in Baltic Sea ports, participated in the second day of the Annual Forum 2025, attending the session “Are our green fuels ready for green shipping corridors?” which aligned with its focus on sustainable and efficient port operations. The project team also joined the plenary “The Baltic Edge: Staying Competitive in a Fast Changing World” and the networking lunch, gaining valuable insights into how circular and green transition initiatives can strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of ports across the BSR.
