Technical details

As summer gave way to autumn, the project partners convened in the picturesque port city of Tallinn, Estonia, for a two-day workshop and partner meeting focused on communications, market analysis, and regulatory frameworks. The event began with a visit to the Old City Harbor, showcasing the port’s transformation over the past decade and providing insights into the evolving relationship between ports and city residents – setting the stage for the Port Residents Communications Workshop the following day.

The workshop featured presentations on communication best practices by Derivaat NH3 and the Port of Esbjerg, followed by the development of a tailored communication strategy with guidance from Meta Advisory, applying practical tools to engage port residents effectively.

During the partner meeting, Port of Hamburg Marketing reviewed the project’s communication activities, while representatives from Swedish partner organizations (IVL, Lindholm Business Park, Port of Lulea) shared key findings from the fast-track H2-Derivative Market Demand Analysis for Baltic Sea Ports. Discussions also covered the planning and engagement of external partners for the H2-Derivative Port Infrastructure and Bunker Supply Guideline, with input from project partners Ventspils Port Authority, Port of Hamburg, Alexela and Klaipeda Port.

On the second day, partners ZDS and Gasum presented the first insights into the H2-Derivative Port Regulatory Framework, while the Port of Tallinn provided an outlook on the Port Residential Communication Strategy, building on the results of the workshop. Other projects partners from the Ports of Kiel and Helsinki along with energy company MB Energy provided practical insights to further enchance the discussions. The meeting concluded with a recap of reporting procedures by Hamburg Port Consulting and a reflection on the project’s impact in fostering regional and international cooperation.

Beyond the productive sessions, participants explored Tallinn’s historical charm, strengthening regional collaboration at the core of Interreg. Stakeholders are encouraged to follow the project for the upcoming market analysis publication and other results supporting greener shipping solutions across the Baltic Sea Region.
