Technical details

As part of awareness-raising activities Association of Polish Communes Euroregion Baltic together with Braniewo Municipality organized activities for young people. 6 groups from 3 schools from Braniewo were involved into workshop called SferaLab. Youth could take part in workshop during which they could learn more about water.

ROLE OF THE TASK: Education and Social Awareness
Education and public awareness are crucial. Communities that understand the benefits of water reuse are more likely to implement and support innovative solutions.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ACTIVITY:
Educational and informational session – during this session, participants explored various topics related to sustainable water use:
–  They had the opportunity to discuss water availability and condition across the world.
–  They analized the impact of the climate crisis on water resources.
–  They explored solutions for using water efficiently and examine the effects of water reuse.
–  They evaluated their own water usage habits and consider its significance for a sustainable lifestyle.

Laboratory session (Sfera Lab) – students learned about the concept of a water footprint, how to calculate their personal water footprint, examine the chemical properties of drinking water, and become familiar with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health Regulation.
Discussion and reflection session (discussion panel) – it was an opportunity to engage in discussions and delve into the views and perceptions of young residents on the important issue of water resource reuse and the role of youth in Braniewo and the broader community.

During the 180-minute workshop, participants learned:
• Why is it important to reduce water consumption?
• How can water consumption be reduced?
• What is water reuse?
• Why should we consider reusing water?
• Where and how can water be reused to reduce the water footprint?
• How can I and my community get involved in water reuse and reducing our water footprint?
