
NURSECOAT-II gathers experts in the city of Talsi, Latvia

The conference was held in the city of Talsi, Latvia. This particular municipality was chosen for the event due to its location in Kurzeme region, near the coastline where various water body samples were taken during previous project periods as well as a great example of a municipality managing local wastewater treatment in the nearby coastal area.
The event was attended by people and organizations that can be identified as potential investors and as target groups in general. Representatives from Jurmalas udens Ltd. talked about findings during implementation of NURSECOAST-II project. Water supply and wastewater management company in the city of Talsi and in the nearby coastal area, Talsu udens Ltd. shared their experience in wastewater treatment, ​​especially in the takeover of small WWTPs and seasonal aspects in coastal areas. Communal service provider in Ventspils region, Latvia, VNK Serviss Ltd. presented experience in the impact of tourism seasonality on the biological treatment process of wastewater, application of nanobubble technology in solving the problem within the framework of the NURSECOAST-II project. One of the leading engineering consultant companies in the water management industry in Latvia with a professional experience of more than 30 years, Aqua Brambis Ltd. gave an insight on actualities of the water management industry. Mr. Uldis Kalnins, an independent expert on wastewater management issues and engineering solutions, discussed the subject of excess sewage sludge and its potential as a resource rather than a burden. Latvian company Rotons Ltd. specialising in production of plastic products/constructions for local waste water treatment, presented modern and practical solutions in wastewater treatment for individual users that can be successfully applied in coastal areas.
Conference included both presentation and panel discussion part were priorities and investor guidelines for Baltic Sea Region were discussed. The event was also attended by residents of near coastal areas and local tourism service provider that had the opportunity to ask questions and gain new knowledge in the significance of correct waste water treatment and management.
