Valuable exchange of experiences and new inspiration. Spectacular nature and hikes under the midnight sun — that’s what the NordMAB meeting in Lofoten had to offer.

Supported by Nature took part in a workshop led by project adviser Johanna MacTaggart, Ronneby Municipality, focusing on international collaborations within the NordMAB network. The workshop created space for participants to share regional experiences and insights.

Our project partners presented the project and shared ongoing work in their respective biosphere areas:

  • Carina Wettemark, from Kristianstads Vattenrike Biosphere Reserve, spoke about erosion issues south of Åhus and their efforts to restore seagrass meadows and create structures for bladderwrack to attach to.
  • Søren Sørensen, Vordingborg Municipality, shared insights into the use of artificial reef cages in a harbour environment.
  • Toomas Kokovkin, West Estonian Archipelago Biosphere Reserve, highlighted wetlands and learning sites in Estonia.

The conference came with fresh ideas — especially around sustainable tourism — inspired by the commitment and knowledge of colleagues from across the Nordics, Scotland, and Canada.
