Skive Municipality went right to the core by asking farmers for their opinions

21 January 2025
The SEGES Plant Congress, held in mid-January at Kongrescenter Herning, Denmark, provided Skive Municipality with an excellent opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with farmers.
Technical details

The event is the largest annual gathering in the Nordic region for plant production, natural resource management, and environmental sustainability. Organized by SEGES Innovation, Aarhus University, and the University of Copenhagen, the congress combines two days of expert-led technical presentations with plenty of space for networking.

The hot question at CiNURGi’s stand was: “What is most important for you when choosing a new fertilizer product?” The follow-up conversations with farmers were highly valuable, and Skive gained a deeper understanding of what matters most (besides price). The priorities varied: for some, the plant availability of phosphorus was the top concern, while others emphasized the market availability of the product and its compatibility with existing spreading technologies.

Understanding farmers’ motivations is crucial for identifying the key competitive parameters that make new products attractive alternatives for farmers. Skive Municipality will continue discussions on the topic at the Fjordland Congress in Skive.
