Meet the Mentors – ReNutriWater Mentoring Programme
10 January 2025
The program provides access to experienced mentors who offer personalized one-on-one mentoring in water recovery and sustainable business models. Participants also benefit from hands-on workshops on risk management, IT tools, and sustainability strategies. Additionally, the program includes collaborative events to network with other mentees, mentors, and industry professionals. To ensure tangible results, participants will create a personalized Action Plan with SMART goals to guide their water reuse initiatives effectively.
The application period for the mentoring programme opens on 13 January 2025.
Explore the expert profiles of our mentors below to discover whom you could collaborate with when signing up for the programme. Learn also more about their personal side by reading about what they enjoy doing in their free time, their New Year’s resolutions for 2025, and what career they would choose if they took a completely different path.
The first mentor pair comes from Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Kuopio, Finland.
Monika Wojciechowska is an RDI Specialist at Savonia University of Applied Sciences with two M.Sc. degrees from the Technical University of Szczecin in Environmental Engineering and Architecture & Interior Design. She holds a professional license for designing and managing environmental engineering projects and is an active member of the Polish Construction Engineers Chamber. With over 10 years of experience at Szczecin Waterworks, she held managerial and specialist roles, including overseeing intelligent water management systems. At Savonia, she has been a key contributor and leader in EU-funded projects like ReNutriWater, focusing on innovative solutions in water treatment and resource management.
In ReNutriWater, Monika has contributed, among other things, to application submission, pilot preparations (WP1), leading WP2, pilot realization (all 3 pilots), designing a disinfection station, planning research and lab tests, and implementing/testing the WaterSafe IT Tool.
Also based in Kuopio, Finland, Rosa Sartjärvi holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Eastern Finland, specializing in the Biology of Environmental Change. Since June 2023, she has been part of the Environmental Engineering department at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, working within the Water Safety Team. In the ReNutriWater project, Rosa supports Monika, the Project Manager on behalf of Project Partner no. 6, in planning, piloting, analyzing, and reporting all implementation actions.
In her free time, Rosa enjoys nature and spending time with her Dalmatian, Ulla. They take trips together all over Finland and frequently travel to the city of Tampere, where Rosa’s roots are.
Rosa’s New Year’s resolution for 2025 is to be braver, try new things, and not be afraid of making mistakes, as all these will contribute to learning and self-development.
If Rosa were not a Water Safety RDI Specialist, she would probably be an entrepreneur, a painter, or a sculptor.
Next mentor, who can help you build your knowledge on water reuse, comes from the Chamber of Economy Polish Waterworks in Warsaw, Poland.
Klara Ramm is the project leader for ReNutriWater. She has a strong interest in risk assessment for water recovery projects from wastewater, as well as water reclamation and reuse. Additionally, she represents her association in the EurEau federation, where she contributes to the exchange of experiences and knowledge about EU environmental policy and water management. She also works as an assistant professor at the Warsaw University of Technology, where she engages in projects and teaches students about water recovery, management, and risk.
In their free time, Klara enjoys various amateur sports, such as jogging, swimming, and skiing. She believes movement is not only healthy but also excellent entertainment and a great way to clear the mind. Additionally, Klara and her partner are dedicated to adopting dogs and cats. This requires them to be systematic and well-organized, as well as to make many sacrifices, which they embrace with peace. They are currently embarking on a new project that will allow them to travel with some of their dogs.
Klara is not a fan of New Year’s Eve or the fuss that surrounds it, especially fireworks, as they can be very stressful for animals. She doesn’t make New Year’s resolutions but wishes everyone a joyful, peaceful, and loving 2025.
Klara truly enjoys her work and has never felt bored or considered changing industries. Many years ago, she graduated in biomedical engineering and might have stayed in the field, working on medical aids, if life had taken a different path.
Next mentor pair, Marta Daugavvanaga and Renāte Daugaviņa are dedicated professionals working in the water quality laboratory at SIA ‘’Jūrmalas ūdens’’, in Jūrmala, Latvia.
Marta, with a background in public health and chemistry, has been with the company for five years. She brings extensive experience and expertise to her role, particularly in her involvement with Pilot 2 of the ReNutriWater project, which focuses on using treated wastewater for urban greening initiatives.
In her free time, Marta loves to travel, explore new places, and go on hikes. She also enjoys spending quiet moments reading a good book.
Marta’s New Year’s resolution for 2025 is to be more outgoing and embrace opportunities to connect with others.
If Marta were to choose a completely different career, she would pursue her passion for art and become a painter, dedicating her days to creativity and self-expression.
Renāte, a chemist currently furthering her education in Human Resources, has been part of the team for two years. Her dual expertise in chemistry and organizational development adds a unique perspective to her work in Pilot 2, aligning innovative water management with sustainable urban solutions.
Renāte enjoys spending her free time going for walks, listening to music, and driving.
Her New Year’s resolution for 2025 is to dedicate more time to self-development, focusing on personal growth and expanding her skills.
If Renāte were to take a completely different career path, she would choose to work in Human Resources, helping others find their potential and fostering positive work environments.
Together, all the mentors play a key role in advancing environmentally friendly practices in water reuse.
