Technical details

On Monday, November 25th, the concluding workshop of the third cycle of Musical Vertigo took place, offering participants a memorable and immersive experience. The event featured an exclusive backstage tour of the Polish Theatre in Szczecin and an engaging session on the fundamentals of stage make-up. As an added highlight, attendees visited the eco-friendly headquarters of the Marshal’s Office of the West Pomeranian Region, located at 14 Mazowiecka Street in Szczecin.

The workshops are part of a pilot initiative conducted in the West Pomeranian Region under the Art on Prescription (AoP) project, which is being implemented across the Baltic Sea Region.

During the theatre tour, Sylwia Różycka guided participants through all four stages of the venue, including the Shakespearean stage and the grand Italian stage. Visitors explored the stage managers’ and technicians’ stations, dressing rooms, and storage areas for scenography and props. They also had a rare glimpse into the behind-the-scenes craftsmanship in the theatre’s tailor’s shop, carpenter’s workshop, and paint studio.

Following the tour, participants joined a stage make-up workshop led by Agnieszka Ogrodniczak, a professional make-up artist and hair stylist who collaborates with actors regularly. Ms. Ogrodniczak introduced the group to the basics of stage make-up, demonstrating techniques for character creation by emphasizing distinctive facial features. Attendees experimented with make-up tools, special-effects materials like plasticine, and even fake blood for theatrical effects—adding a playful twist to the session.

Theatre actor Karol Pruciak and photographer Maria Antonina Bystrzycka were also present to enrich the experience. Ms. Bystrzycka documented the day, capturing the enthusiasm of the participants.

The day concluded with a visit to the Marshal’s Office headquarters, a passive and sustainable building that boasts a rooftop garden and panoramic views of Szczecin. There, participants reflected on the workshop series during a creative evaluation session, providing feedback on their experiences.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for their dedication throughout the workshops and for sharing their valuable insights.
