On the 2nd of October the KISMET Team from Hamburg invited Mr. Klaus Berend, EU Director Food Safety, Sustainability and Innovation, and Philipp Tigges from Infinite Roots, to a panel discussion about the Future of food and sustainable Food Enviroments. Mr. Jostein Hertiwig (BERAS International and KISMET Partner) welcomed the guests and presented the KISMET partnership and the ideas.

After an interesting presentation by Mr. Berend about novel foods and the approval by EFSA, a panel discussion and an exchange about the future of novel foods started. The different production methods of sustainable food in the conventional sector and the possibilities of novel foods were part of the discussion. Certainly, novel foods can only supplement part of the overall food production. They will not replace it.
After the discussion, the participants were able to exchange ideas and test the Infinite Roots products.
All in all, it was a very successful event with around 40 participants from the KISMET partnership, the EU Commission and representatives from industry and research.
