Saldus takes first steps towards reuse of water

17 September 2024
The WaterMan pilot measures take shape in 2024. The video below visualises the concept of the pilot for reuse of water in Saldus Municipality / LV. The pilot facility collects & recirculates of stormwater for supplying a public fountain as well as further utilisations (e.g. watering / cleaning of streets).
Technical details

The pilot facility collects stormwater in an underground reservoir below the Kalpak Square, located in the central and prominent area of Saldus Municipality. The collected water will be purified and recirculated for the purpose of reusing it for supplying a public fountain at the square as well as further utilisations (e.g. watering municipal greenery or cleaning streets).

The installation will be accompanied by educational measures for general public, explaining the need for water recycling to make the local water supply more resilient in the Baltic Sea Region, where due to climate change altering periods of droughts and floods are becoming more frequent.
